Our story
Before It Was Figo
Before Figo, this space held salon chairs instead of wine and pasta.
For decades, this little storefront on Sheffield was home to a neighborhood hair salon. When it became ours, we didn't want to erase its history—we wanted to preserve it and make it part of Figo's story.
The windows are original to the building, framing the same view they've offered for generations. The century-old floorboards were carefully reclaimed and transformed into the bar where guests now gather over food and wine.
Look up, and you'll see another piece of our story. The exposed beams overhead were hand-cut from timber on our family's farm in Michigan, brought here, and lifted into place by hand.
But Figo's story began long before these walls. It started with our father's dream of opening a restaurant—a dream he carried for years before it finally became reality.
This building already had a history. We were simply fortunate enough to become part of it, adding our family's story to the next chapter.
